Safety Measures for Companies After the Circuit Breaker

The circuit breaker in Singapore is set to end on June 1. There are a lot of speculations about how life after the lockdown will be. Anyway, one thing we can be assured is that enhanced security measures will be applied in various aspects of society, including the workplace.

The Ministry of Health and the MOM has recently introduced workplace safety measures. Every company in the city-state will have to adhere to them after the circuit breaker ends. The measures have been designed to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 among the workforce.

One of the main guidelines is to hire a Safe Management Officer (SMO) who will have to conduct safety checks and inspections and keep records of all the inspections. The SMO will also be responsible for helping the company for implementing workplace safety measures.

Other guidelines include letting employees work from their homes if it is possible, conducting virtual meetings instead of physical contacts, avoiding any activity that requires prolonged contacts, and compulsory masks at the workplace.

There are some more requirements for Safe Management after Circuit Breaker as well. An employer who doesn’t adhere to the rules will be liable for actions from the MOH and MOM. In some cases, it could mean the ceasing of operations.

The SafeEntry Visitor Management System

A highlight of the Safe Management Measures is the requirement of a Safe Entry visitor management system. Every office, supermarkets, and shopping centres will have to install a digital check-in system.

SafeEntry System was developed by the Government Technology Agency. Visitors to often-crowded places will now have to scan their identification card in a device that will record their arrival and trace their contact on the premises. If in case someone is affected, the system will help find other people who came in contact with them, eventually minimizing the effects of the Noble Coronavirus.

SafeEntry is will also help ease out the crowds at places which have multiple entry points. Some industries must install the system, while it is optional for others, but still recommended.
